Even at the tender age of 8, a young girl from a small town in Mississippi knew she was destined to be Attorney Lomax. She took that knowing, stayed focused, and graduated from Crystal Springs High School with honors. Then, as a recipient of the Chancellor’s Leadership Class Scholarship and the Vice Chancellor’s Housing Scholarship, Attorney Lomax earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, with a minor in art from the University of Mississippi in 1998.
After graduating from University of Mississippi, Attorney Lomax received the Virgil Hawkins Law Fellowship to attend the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2001.
Attorney Lomax has been private practice since December 2002. Prior to going into private practice, Attorney Lomax was a Senior Attorney with the Department of Children and Families, Child Welfare Legal Services, in Lake County Florida, working in the area of juvenile dependency. While her current primary areas of practice are estate planning, probate, and guardianship law, she brings 20+ years of family law and dependency law litigation experience to the firm.
That experience, coupled with her calm demeanor, and the skills she honed while working as a certified family law mediator, make her an excellent addition to the firm. While she doesn’t carry a caseload, she uses her legal expertise and family law knowledge to assist the firm’s attorneys with case strategy, trial preparation, deposition preparation, and legal drafting.
Attorney Lomax has taught Legal Methods at Florida A&M University College of Law and Business Law at Belhaven University. She enjoys using her experience as a practicing attorney to train the future lawyers and scholars of tomorrow.
